Altanus is the Latin name of a wind, now known as Altano (or also Autan), a very humid wind that blows from the Gulf of Lion towards the mountain slopes of the “Cevennes”. And it is precisely this undoubted passion of the company’s founder for natural phenomena that we can find in the ALTANUS brand itself: a graphic symbol that seems to come out of a breath of wind. It was 1914 when the “ALTANUS GENEVE” watchmaking factory was founded in the city of Geneva: an artisan workshop of exclusive productions that in a short time was able to fully conquer a place in the international watchmaking scene.
Today, the worldwide distribution of Altanus starts from Italy, but the company has preserved the original Geneva laboratories.
